Obituary of Bobbie Jean Blake
The children of Bobbie Jean (Webster) Blake lovingly and painfully relinquished their mother’s embrace to the everlasting arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ upon her unexpected death on Thursday, April 12, 2018, in St Peters, Missouri.
Bobbie was born in Mullins, SC to the late Lee and Estelle Webster. She began going to the Baptist Church with her mother as a child, and continued a life-long devotion to God and her Biblical principles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest A. Blake, JR, and her only two siblings.
Bobbie began her working career in 1944, as a soda fountain girl during her high school years. In 1963, she married to late Forrest A Blake, JR, in Beaufort, SC. After marriage, the Blake family adventurously relocated between several states, where she found joy in pursuing various job challenges, including: secretary, school bus driver, day care owner/operator, hostess, cashier, and retail clerk in both theme parks and department stores. In 1996, she and her husband enjoyed their retirement in Winter Haven, FL.
Following her husband’s death in 1998, she found comfort in returning to work, where she assisted her son in managing an ice skating rink for the city, and was affectionately nicknamed “Miss Bobbie”. Shortly thereafter, she started working with JC Penney, where she learned a great deal about modern technology in order to adequately assist customer needs. Over the next 20 years, she endured carotid endarterectomy, two broken arms, and in 2012, triple bypass, before reluctantly accepting an “early retirement” in May 2017.
Miss Bobbie is survived by her two children, Forrest Alvin Blake, III and Connie Lynn Blake. Three grand-dogs and one grand-cat kept her company and added immense pleasure to her already fulfilled life.
On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at 6:30p.m. she was fondly remembered in a Celebration of Life at Calvary Church, 3998 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St Peters, MO 63376. Memorial donations in memory of Miss Bobbie can be made to Calvary Church.
Her children will be traveling to Bedford to lay her to rest next to her husband on what would have been her 89th birthday. Friends are welcome to join the family in Shawsheen Cemetery, Bedford at 1pm on May 29, 2018.
