Emidio L. Di Clemente of Bedford died on August 10, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Joan Marie (Ryan) Di Clemente.
Loving father of Deborah Gray and her husband Richard of Chelmsford; Lisa Di Clemente of Wilmington; Steven Di Clemente and his wife Amy of Winter Park, Florida; and Nadine Miklavcic of Nashua, NH. Loving grandfather of Michelle Gray, Ryan Gray, Kevin Di Clemente, Daniel Di Clemente, Jake Di Clemente, and Mia Di Clemente. He is also survived by two nephews.
Emidio graduated from Belmont High School in 1947. Working during the day and attending night classes at Lowell Institute, located at MIT, he gravitated towards Engineering. At age 20, he joined the U. S. Army and quickly was recognized for his skills in electrical engineering during the Korean War which placed him in SCEL, training soldiers in the battle field on the use of communication equipment.
Upon discharge from the Army, Emidio attended Tufts School of Engineering, Class of 1957. While working for Boeing, Emidio went to night school at Northeastern University, working towards his Master’s. He completed his Master’s Degree when at Martin Company in MD. He returned to Massachusetts in 1967 with his wife and four children when hired by Raytheon and the Patriot Program. The space program and the defense program were his passion as he contributed his all to accuracy in achieving perfection. He retired from Raytheon in 1992.
Emidio is Papa to his six grandchildren and tester of their mathematical skills. There was nothing their Papa could not do when it came to fixing whatever was broken.
Loving twin brother of the late Elizabeth A. Sallese and her late husband Angelo Sallese.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate a Memorial Mass in St. Michael's Church in Bedford on Friday, August 16, 2019. A private burial followed.
